Ch 2 Getting to know you

While the gathering pictures, that I didn’t know we had at home, (Steve never mention the wealth of memories that he had) I felt like I discover a huge part of his life that he barely talk to me about. I know there were many aspects of his childhood that he wanted to keep hidden and somewhat forgotten. But at the same time it was that hard transition from a cute looking boy to a handsome and ever wondering teenager, those hardships and painful experiences were the ingredients that made into the Steve we loved and got to know. However he remained very much a family man he was proud of his texan family and ever expanding family tree. He would travel very often to visit them after he left for New York City. I also knew that he was married before to a woman. For whatever the circumstances that made him believe that he could follow that path he realized soon enough that he couldn’t live a life lying to himself. Ultimately that marriage ended in a bitter divorce. But Steve is not a person that holds grudges, he kept his friendship with Mary Ann, it was more important to him to keep a friend than to gain a foe. All of these interesting discoveries is what inspired me to choose the title for this chapter from one of his favorite music/lyrics duo Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The King and I”, “Getting To Know You”. Here is a sample of my findings, he was precisely “my cup of tea”.
